William Wright comes to Mason City, Iowa, May 22, 2014!
The very new Mason City Architectural Interpretive Center, located right next door to Wright's Stockman House. (Open to the public for tours!)
David Patterson's talk on William Wright as a musician and composer was co-sponsored by the River City Society for Historic Preservation and Wright on the Park, the latter organization responsible for the recent restoration and now oversight of the Historic Park Inn, Wright's only surviving hotel. (A great place to stay!)
David discusses some of the chapters that he plans to include in an upcoming book on Frank Lloyd Wright and music.
Brazen hawking of "The Music of William C. Wright" CD! (The recording is also available in the museum shop of the Architectural Interpretive Center.)
After the talk, a slideshow of William Wright images was on display, including this recently rediscovered and restored wedding photo of William and his first wife, Permelia Holcomb.
David Patterson and Caitlin Callahan, Executive Director of Wright on the Park.
And the Stockman House! Mason City is also home to several Griffins, as well as Drummonds and Byrnes -- even with a population only around 30,000, it's a architectural treasure trove. Highly recommended!
And don't miss the Historic Park Inn -- a
one-of-a-kind Wright experience!
